Junior Handling

Wednesday, September 16th, 2015

Junior handlers are the future of the sport of dog shows. Most professional handlers were junior handlers when they were younger and there is no better way for young handlers to gain confidence in the ring.  As a junior handler, children can gain confidence and experience that will carry over to other areas of their lives.  Taking care of a dog also teaches responsibility. Junior showmanship is open to children and teens between nine and 18 years old age.

I am happy to place puppies in homes where they will be shown by junior handlers as long as their parents completely support this hobby and are dedicated to making sure their puppy will be a part of the family as well as the junior’s show dog.  I enjoy mentoring people who are new to the breed and need to learn grooming, which shows to enter and more.

Everything you want to know about AKC Junior Showmanship is available on the AKC Website.
