Now We Work on AKC Grand Championship

AKC Grand Champion is a new title that started in May 2010.  It started with mixed reviews about why AKC was doing it and whether it was worthwhile to pursue.  Tucker started working on his AKC Grand Championship the day after he finished his AKC Champion title.  He won Select Dog on June 13, 2010 at Skyline Kennel Club for a 3-point major towards his Grand Championship.  Thank you to Judge Karen Wilson and to Lexie Ditlow for showing Tucker.  Not bad for his first day as a Special and what a great way to start his journey toward Grand Champion.

Since Tucker got such a great start towards his Grand Championship, I decided it would be fun to work towards that at local shows and Specialties while Tucker matures and waits for a time when he’ll be ready to really be shown as a Special.  On  June 26, 2010, Tucker got another point toward his Grand Championship shown by his breeder, Carla Vooris.  Then, on July 17, 2010 at Berryville Kennel Club, Tucker won Select Dog for another two points in Berryville, VA at Shawnee Kennel Club.

Tucker now has 6 points with one major and two wins over specials towards his Grand Champship.  His next shows are Raleigh Kennel Club in September and Warrenton Kennel Club and Old Dominion Kennel Club in October.  We’ll let everyone know how it goes.
