On Saturday, we took two of my 11 week old puppies to a Barn Hunt lesson with Aleta Channell at Bear Creek K9 Sports. They were accompanied by two-year old Cheeky, who has a Barn Hunt Novice title and one leg towards her Barn Hunt Open title. Cheeky loves doing barn hunt with Aleta and she was happy to have the puppies follow along while she found the rats. Hamilton (formally Bond) stayed right behind Cheeky the whole time and Shimmer was a big fan of the hot dogs and caught on quickly to indicating the rat rube with her paw to get them.
Hamilton “Hammy” is going to his new home in Ohio this weekend with Kate and Ben Lamb. He will be doing all kinds of performance sports and also be a show dog. He has shown an affinity for Barn Hunt, so hopefully they can find a place to continue Barn Hunt lessons near their home. Hammy’s AKC name will be Cryslen’s Diamonds are Forever.
Shimmer will stay here with me and Cheeky and her mom, Poppy. She will be known as Cryslen’s Shine Bright Like a Diamond. She will take more Barn Hunt lessons with Cheeky this winter and try some tracking too.
